Let’s Passport Colombia

If you’re googling “best time to visit Colombia,” you’re already asking the wrong question.

If this is your first time here, welcome to Passport Colombia Insider.

Here’s why that question doesn’t work: Colombia doesn’t operate on seasons the way you may be used to. There’s no “summer” or “winter” here. Instead, the weather, and the experience shifts based on where you are and how high up you go.

Think 60°F in the mountains, 90°F on the coast (that’s 15-32°C for my metric travelers). One day you’re breathing in mountain air in Medellín, the next you’re surrounded by the smell of fresh coffee in the Coffee Region, and then, my personal favorite (and a little biased LOL), you’re enjoying the Caribbean coasts and walking the vibrant colonial streets of Cartagena with the Caribbean breeze on your skin.

The right question isn’t when to visit Colombia. It’s which Colombia you want to experience first.

Whether you’re traveling solo, planning a romantic escape with your loved one, or looking for a destination event or group experience, Colombia has something that’ll feel made just for you. But only if you plan it right.

Here’s a INSIDER checklist to get you started.

  • Browse the Passport Colombia calendar. Pick dates that match both your schedule and the kind of experience you’re after. Timing matters here, trust me on this.

  • The airports you’ll want to search: Cartagena (CTG), Medellín (MDE), and for the Coffee Region, Pereira (PEI). My go-to airline? Copa Airlines . I’ll dive deeper into my favorite carriers in the next edition, but Copa consistently gets it right.

  • Check your visa requirements, if any. Head to the official Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs site and make sure you’re all set. This takes five minutes now and saves you headaches later.

Why Starting Now Matters
